1. Introduction
Campus Connect LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Student Creator platform (the "Platform"), a marketplace connecting college student creators with brands. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
By checking the box at registration to indicate you have read and agree to this Privacy Policy, you affirmatively consent to the collection and use of your information as described here. We record the date, time, and version of the policy you accepted. If you do not agree, do not check the box, and do not use the Platform.
If we make changes to this Privacy Policy, we will post the updated policy on the Platform with a revised "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
All Users
- Name, email address, password (hashed)
- Account type (Creator or Brand)
Creators
- School name and
.eduemail address (used for verification) - Major, class year
- Interest/niche tags
- Optional: location, Instagram/TikTok handles or links
- Application materials and campaign submissions/content
- Payout information collected and stored by Stripe Connect (see Section 4)
Brands
- Company name, company website/basic company info
- Campaign details (title, brief, budget, targeting filters)
- Billing information collected and stored by Stripe (see Section 4)
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Platform, we may automatically collect:
- Device and browser information, IP address, operating system
- Log data (pages visited, actions taken, timestamps)
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 7)
- Records of your acceptance of these policies (timestamp, IP address, and policy version), retained as evidence of consent
2.3 Information From Third Parties
- .edu verification providers, used to confirm student enrollment status. This is a good-faith check and not an independent guarantee of enrollment (see our Terms of Service, Section 2.2).
- Stripe Connect, which shares certain account status and transaction data with us (e.g., whether payout setup is complete) but not full financial account details
- Social media platforms, if you choose to link your Instagram/TikTok account
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and maintain your account and profile
- Verify student enrollment via
.eduemail - Match Creators with relevant campaigns and enable Brands to review applicants
- Facilitate campaign communication, content submission, and the revision cycle
- Process payments and payouts through Stripe Connect, and calculate platform fees
- Send transactional communications (application updates, payment confirmations, campaign status)
- Send marketing communications, where permitted, which you may opt out of at any time
- Monitor, secure, and improve the Platform
- Investigate and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service
- Maintain records of your consent to our policies, for our legal protection and yours
- Comply with legal obligations, including tax reporting (e.g., Form 1099-NEC)
4. Payment Information (Stripe Connect)
All payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. through Stripe Connect. When a Creator sets up payouts or a Brand funds a campaign, sensitive financial information (bank account or card details) is collected and stored directly by Stripe, not by Campus Connect LLC. We receive limited information from Stripe necessary to operate the Platform, such as account status, transaction amounts, and payout confirmations.
The Company does not custody or control funds and is not responsible for Stripe's handling, security, or processing of your financial information. Your use of Stripe's services is subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement and Stripe's own Privacy Policy, which we encourage you to review.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information as follows:
- Between Users: Creator profile information (name, school, major, class year, interest tags, optional location/social links, application materials) is shared with Brands as part of the application and campaign process. Campaign details are shared with applying Creators. Once shared with another User, that User's further use of your information is governed by their own conduct and is outside the Company's control, subject to the reporting tools described in our Terms of Service.
- Service Providers: With vendors who perform services on our behalf, including Stripe (payments),
.eduverification providers, hosting providers, analytics providers, and customer support tools — bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations. - Legal and Safety: Where required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Company, our Users, or the public.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
- With Your Consent: For any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection and with your consent.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Platform, comply with legal obligations (including tax and financial recordkeeping requirements), resolve disputes, defend legal claims, and enforce our agreements. Consent and acceptance records (Section 2.2) are retained for the duration of the applicable statute of limitations in our operating jurisdiction. You may request deletion of your account as described in Section 9, subject to records we are required or entitled to retain.
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Platform, remember your preferences, and analyze usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may limit certain Platform functionality. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.
8. Children's Privacy
The Platform is intended for users 18 years of age and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@studentcreator.io.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or update your personal information (via your account settings or by contacting us)
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Request a copy of your personal information in a portable format
- Opt out of marketing communications (via the unsubscribe link in emails)
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your information
Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have additional statutory rights, including the right to opt out of certain data "sales" or "sharing" as those terms are defined by applicable law. 10. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure, including encryption of sensitive data in transit and access controls limiting internal access to personal information on a need-to-know basis. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and by using the Platform you acknowledge and accept the inherent risks of transmitting information over the internet. We are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including third-party service provider breaches.
11. International Users
The Platform is hosted in the United States. If you access the Platform from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
12. Third-Party Links
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services (including Brand websites and Creators' linked social media accounts). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect upon posting to the Platform, and continued use after posting constitutes acceptance.
